Immersed in a lineage of Hip Hop that is ambivalent and contradictory in nature, Adam Daniel Martinez has grown side by side with a culture that is roughly as old as he is in regards to its mainstream mainstay.
Being a student of many different eras of rap styles, Adam has adapted and remained in love with the Hip Hop culture, and the art of Rhyming.
Truly coming into his own, Adam has undergone name changes like they were open-heart surgeries, each moniker coming closer and closer to terms with reality and a true identity.
Arising from a philosophy about art and culture at large, Adam took on the moniker Faimkills, as a testament to the notion that truth and beauty is overshadowed by the useless need for decadence, as well as fame's ability to disregard anything meaningful and creative in both Hip Hop, as well as music, and all things meant to evoke something deep inside.
Since taking on this name and all of its baggage, Faimkills has linked up with Steal Mantra Records, a small collective based out of San Bernardino, California, along with several like minded artists who are about promoting local artistry across different musical genres.
Faimkills has released 2 EPs thus far in the last year. Compiling songs that have been written and recorded over the course of his 4 year college career at UC Riverside, he crafted "FuckLove" in 2007, and "Streets Is Jockin" in 2008.
He is currently working on 3 new EPs:
"Death Becomes You, Hipster", "Skimask", and "iheartrap" that will see release in September 2008, which will bring his catalog to 5 EPs in a 1-2 year span. So far many of his songs have been remixes of some of his favorite songs, that act more like adaptations, while others run in a mixtape format.
He is currently seeking like-minded individuals to craft beats for him so that he can really grow as an individual artist and show what he has learned as a fan and student of the game.
Faimkills is a rapper, a song-writer, a storyteller, picking up elements from socially conscious/backpack rap, indie rap, emo rap, hipster, rap, Bling rap, among other things. He has a punk/anti-establishment (whatever that establishment is) sentiment and a passion in his voice that expresses angst about the current climate of Western culture. Having grown up on Tribe, Jay-Z, Ghostface, and every other rapper who claims to be the shit, Faimkills brings a swagger of his own.
Barreling through songs of romance, race issues, violence, sex, narrations, streams-of-consciousnesss, criticism, religion, and anything else of importance, Faimkills is a fan first, and an artist second.
